Update of the Management Plan and the Monitoring System
Strategic Tools for the Protection and Enhancement of the Cultural Landscape
The project, funded under Law 77/2006 (Financial Year 2021) of the Italian Ministry of Culture, aims to update the Management Plan and Monitoring System of the UNESCO site “Vineyard Landscapes of Langhe-Roero and Monferrato”, whose current version dates back to 2013, at the time of the nomination. After more than ten years of implementation, a comprehensive revision is needed to address the territory’s new requirements, integrate UNESCO recommendations and strengthen the long-term strategic vision.
The update of the Plan has been developed through a participatory process involving public and private stakeholders, with open discussions dedicated to municipalities, private entities, cultural organisations, schools and sector institutions. Particular attention has also been given to the contribution of younger generations, actively engaged through participatory meetings and educational activities. The project seeks to promote an integrated and shared approach to landscape governance, in line with the values of balance, care, identity and continuity.
-
Assessment of the Existing Plan: analysis of the results achieved, outputs and outcomes, and alignment with the original objectives.
-
Listening to and Engaging Local Stakeholders: working groups and co-design meetings with members, institutions, organisations and associations.
-
Involving Schools: educational and interactive activities to gather ideas and visions for the future of the landscape.
-
Drafting the New Management Plan: updating strategies, objectives, actions and operational tools.
-
Strengthening the Monitoring System: defining new indicators, integrating with regional databases and developing an interactive online dashboard.
-
Communication: disseminating the results and presenting the new plan to the community.
The new Plan will be consistent with regional policies and with the main European programming tools. It also represents an opportunity to reinforce active synergies within the UNESCO District of Piedmont, enhancing the inter-institutional work already underway.
