Safeguarding the Authenticity of a Living Landscape Between Tradition, Innovation and Globalisation
A project dedicated to safeguarding the cultural landscape and its roots in a global context
The initiative addressed the issue of safeguarding the authenticity of the Piedmontese wine-growing landscape, where the territory, deeply rooted in the culture of wine, lives among hills and rows of vines that weave together tradition and innovation.
In a changing global context, the project studied and monitored the main social and economic factors affecting the UNESCO site, with the aim of safeguarding its cultural roots, preserving the memory of the seasons and the gestures of the harvest.
By involving schools, farms, wineries, cooperatives, research institutions and local communities, the initiative promoted shared knowledge and participation, evoking values of balance and respect, hospitality and care, so that the landscape would be recognised as a living story to be savoured, observed and passed on.
With the publication of the White Paper on good practices and the documentary “In the Vineyard. Work, Experiences, Cultures”, the project was completed, leaving a wealth of tools and reflections to guide future actions for the protection and enhancement of the site.
The project was funded with resources from Law 77/2006 – Financial Year 2018, dedicated to interventions in favour of Italian UNESCO sites.
