PROJECTS
Multimedia Learning Room
A space dedicated to learning about and exploring the UNESCO landscape
The project, funded under Law 77/2006 (Financial Year 2022) of the Italian Ministry of Culture, involves the creation of a permanent space for educational activities at the Association’s headquarters in Asti. The initiative stems from the need for a well-equipped, accessible and multimedia environment capable of hosting schools, groups and visitors in a setting designed to foster active learning, sharing and the transmission of the values of the UNESCO-recognized wine-growing cultural landscape.
The setup will include functional furniture, digital devices, interactive materials and inclusive tools, making the space accessible to everyone, particularly children and young people. It will serve as the starting point for field-based educational activities, as well as an independent space to observe, learn and experience – through images, words and objects – the tangible and intangible elements that define the identity of the UNESCO site.
The classroom will be equipped with multimedia installations and tactile materials to support a sensory and mindful engagement with the content. This approach meets the need to create a plural educational environment, where learning occurs through observation, listening, direct experience and sensory involvement. The educational methodology aims to stimulate curiosity and strengthen the connection between the school community and the landscape, seen as a common good to be preserved and passed on.
The content developed for the Multimedia Educational Room will be integrated with the training packages already active within the A Scuola di Patrimonio project and tailored for all school levels. The goal is to nurture knowledge of the territory, its cultural roots, practices and transformations, guiding students to recognize the tangible and intangible value of the landscape in which they live.
To support the project, a communication and promotion campaign will be launched targeting schools, teachers and the local community, encouraging ongoing use of the space and fostering conscious and shared participation. The official opening of the classroom will be celebrated with a public inauguration event: a moment of storytelling, welcome and dialogue with the territory.
Conceived as a dynamic space, connected to local traditions and responsive to contemporary needs, the Multimedia Educational Room represents an important step in the Association’s landscape education path. It is a place where tradition and innovation meet, creating new ways to learn about, observe, and experience the cultural landscape.
The classroom will be barrier-free, equipped for use by people with disabilities and designed according to universal accessibility standards. Its innovative and replicable approach, combined with the educational and cultural value of the initiative, provides a concrete response to UNESCO recommendations aimed at strengthening the social dimension of site management.
The Multimedia Educational Room is open to the community: an invitation to learn about the territory, experience it firsthand, and safeguard it with awareness.
