A Scuola Di Patrimonio

Landscape Education for Future Generations

September 15, 2025
IN PROGRESS

“A Scuola di Patrimonio” is an educational initiative, funded under Law 77/2006 (Financial Year 2022) of the Italian Ministry of Culture, aimed at schools within the UNESCO territory of Langhe, Roero and Monferrato. Its goal is to bring children and young people closer to the knowledge of the wine-growing landscape, fostering respect, appreciation and stewardship through educational experiences that combine teaching, culture and sustainability.

Integrated Educational Pathways with the Local Area

The project’s content is tailored to age groups and school levels, engaging students in theoretical and practical activities that stimulate observation, listening and critical thinking. The landscape – with its living fabric of hills, vineyards and rows – becomes an open-air laboratory where themes related to memory, time, seasonality and local identity can be explored.

In Collaboration with Schools, Institutions and Communities

A Scuola di Patrimonio is carried out in synergy with schools, local authorities and cultural institutions in the area. Many of its activities are co-designed in collaboration with the UNESCO District of Piedmont. This participatory approach strengthens the link between school and community and helps cultivate a shared awareness of the landscape’s value as a common good, rooted in tradition but open to the future.

Towards an Active and Aware Citizenship

The project supports the development of transversal skills related to civic, environmental and cultural education. It promotes a balance between knowledge and experience, between technical expertise and human sensitivity, fostering in students an authentic and respectful relationship with the territory in which they live.
