The UNESCO Vineyard Landscapes Association will present, on Sunday, May 18 at 10:30 a.m. at the Turin International Book Fair, as part of the events organized by the Regional Council of Piedmont and in collaboration with the Asti School of Comics, the comic book “Scenes from a Heritage: An Extraordinary Journey to Discover the UNESCO Wine Landscapes.”
Designed for children but able to engage audiences of all ages, the comic features as its imaginary protagonist a natural element of the vineyard—a vine shoot and cluster, called “rapulin” in the Piedmontese dialect. Through an accessible and lively narrative, it guides readers in discovering the UNESCO-listed hilly territory, highlighting its uniqueness, the positive interaction between people and nature that underpins its recognition, the importance of biodiversity, and the history of the area.
The illustrations, created in collaboration with the Asti School of Comics, were produced by teachers Marco Avoletta, Barbara Fantaguzzi, and Marco La Sala, under the guidance of the school’s founder, Enzo Armando.
Following the presentation, the Asti School of Comics will offer live drawing and painting demonstrations, giving children and young people the opportunity to explore the world of illustration in an interactive and fun way.
The creation of the comic, made possible thanks to the contribution of the Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio di Asti, is part of the broader UNESCO Wine Landscapes Association project aimed at raising community awareness through educational programs that foster understanding, responsible behavior, and a commitment to safeguarding the territory.
