Tuesday, March 25 in Asti – Langhe, Roero, and Monferrato Municipalities at the Second Management Plan Meeting
On March 25, the UNESCO Vineyard Landscapes Association held the second public meeting for the preparation of the new Management Plan, following the first meeting in January. The event, hosted at the Salone della Provincia in Asti, brought together mayors and technical staff from both core and buffer zone municipalities for discussions aimed at drafting the dynamic Management Plan, to be published by the end of 2025.
The working tables highlighted that UNESCO recognition is increasingly seen as an opportunity rather than a constraint, and that the Association plays a key role in coordinating initiatives and promoting and protecting the territory. At the same time, participants emphasized the need to strengthen community awareness, communication, training, tourism distribution, and the promotion of outdoor activities, especially in the Roero area, which is part of the nomination dossier as a potential buffer zone.
Regional planning representatives and the Ministry of Culture stressed that the new Management Plan must serve as a shared tool for all stakeholders to safeguard the Site’s Outstanding Universal Value.
Following the working sessions, the Members’ Assembly approved the 2025 budget forecast and Activity Plan, the 2024 financial statements, and membership fees. President Giovanna Quaglia thanked participants and announced further worktables focused on the Roero, while highlighting the Association’s strengthened collaboration with Visit LMR and Alexala, positioning it as a model for UNESCO Site management.
