On Friday, May 1st, Labor Day, Camminare il Monferrato, a series of guided walks promoted by the Monferrato municipalities and the Sacro Monte di Crea Special Reserve in collaboration with the Pietra da Cantoni Ecomuseum, the Italian Alpine Club (CAI), and the sponsorship of the newspaper "Il Monferrato," will be held in Terruggia. The proposed route will be route 736, "THE FIELDS AND MEADOWS AROUND TERRUGGIA." This easy walk, organized by the Municipality in collaboration with the Pro Loco Terruggia APS, will start at 3:00 PM in Piazza Vittorio Emanuele III, near the Town Hall. The meeting point is set for 2:45 PM, where Mayor Maria Luisa Musso will welcome participants and explain the day's program. Immediately after the start, leaving the characteristic historic center, the walk will descend to Villa Poggio Park and then return to the town. From here, we'll take the dirt road that leads into the countryside, and at a certain point, a wide panoramic view of the surrounding municipalities will open up. We'll then descend along easy country roads to the valley floor, encountering the first meadows. Here, the roads are often lined with rows of willows and poplars that line the path. After the Boscogrosso Farmhouse, the landscape will change, and we'll continue through the vineyards along the crest of the hill. We'll continue halfway up the hill, until we glimpse Montalbano Castle. Soon, we'll encounter the cylindrical Torre Veglio, rising from the woods and dominating the valley. We'll soon return to the starting point, where the Municipal Administration and the Pro Loco will offer participants a pleasant aperitif to conclude this excursion. Professional guide Anna Maria Bruno will accompany the group, illustrating the details and curiosities that characterize this route immersed in the Monferrato countryside.
