On Sunday, May 24th, Lu Monferrato will host "Camminare il Monferrato" (Walking the Monferrato) with a new and exciting event on a unique route: a scenic loop of approximately 8 km that fits perfectly into this initiative promoted by the Monferrato municipalities and the Sacro Monte di Crea Special Reserve, in collaboration with the CAI (Italian Alpine Club) and under the patronage of the biweekly "Il Monferrato," a program created to revive the area's trails and roads. The meeting point for this event, organized by the Municipality of Lu and Cuccaro Monferrato, is scheduled in Lu in Piazza Gherzi at 2:45 PM, with the walk starting at 3:00 PM. Mayor Franco Alessio will welcome participants and, together with the trail's creators, will outline the day's program. The chosen route will begin in the village and from there descend along the Braida road, then climb up to Lavanda del Cascinotto, where we will make a short stop. We will then skirt the lavender field, descending along the dirt road, passing several farmhouses, including Cascina San Nazzaro. Next, we will encounter geometric fields and lush hazelnut groves, before climbing again and finally completing the loop, returning to the village along the road to Quargnento. It is a very scenic route, offering views of Castelletto Monferrato, the Apennines, and the city of Alessandria, which extends across the plain below. At the end of the walk, the Circolo di San Valerio will host participants for refreshments, provided by the San Giacomo Association. A qualified guide will accompany the group and illustrate the main characteristics of this area, highlighting the features and curiosities encountered along the way. This service will be provided by Anna Maria Bruno. In case of bad weather, you can call 334 780 7250 between 11:00 and 12:00. Duration: Approximately 2 hours. Difficulty: T (tourist) Equipment: Suitable footwear and clothing. Since the trail is quite exposed, a hat and water are recommended. Please note: ∙ The organizers decline all responsibility for damage to persons or property during the event; ∙ Anyone who leaves the trails or does not follow the guides does so at their own risk;
