"THE TREASURES OF ACQUI TERME" – An engaging tour that leads visitors through the streets of the historic center, revealing stories of art, architecture, and spirituality. We begin in the heart of the city, walking among churches and glimpses that recount centuries of history. The Church of San Francesco, home to precious paintings, introduces the religious and artistic charm of the center, while Piazza della Bollente, with its famous thermal spring, reveals the city's most famous symbol. Passing through the medieval village of Pisterna, the path leads to the majestic Cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta, a true treasure trove of artistic masterpieces. Climbing toward Piazza Duomo, we see prestigious ecclesiastical buildings, including the Palazzo Vescovile, a historic building of great architectural value. On nearby Via Verdi, we stop at the Jona Ottolenghi Foundation, a building steeped in history that occupies the site of the former hospital of Santa Maria Maggiore, which houses the bronze statue of "The Prodigal Son." We continue to the Church of Sant'Antonio, with its wooden furnishings and vault frescoed by Pietro Ivaldi, known as "il Muto." The tour concludes with the exterior of the Romanesque Basilica of Our Lady of Sorrows, offering a comprehensive overview of Acqui Terme's cultural and artistic richness. At the end of the tour, a toast will be offered in the charming cellars of the Enoteca Regionale.
