SILENT READING SUMMER PARTY

The "Silent Reading Summer Party" is being held by the G. Spina Municipal Library of Treville, in collaboration with the Book and Sisterhood Club, and under the patronage of the Municipality of Treville. This event will take place on Sunday, August 30th, at 5:00 pm in the churchyard of the Parish Church of Sant'Ambrogio in Treville. Participation is free (info +39 339 541 5940). Its sole purpose is to bring together book lovers who want to share an hour of silent reading, each immersed in the pages of their favorite text. The pleasure of reading together in silence is the magic of these seasonal events, which began in early 2026 with the first Silent Reading Winter in February in the Surbone Room on the first floor of the Devasini Town Hall, followed by the Silent Reading Spring in San Quirico, home to the 12th-century country church of the same name. The perfect, coolest spot for summer is the north side of the Parish Church of Sant'Ambrogio, whose churchyard offers a splendid view and where readers can find the most comfortable reading spot. The only rules to follow for one hour of reading together are: the use of paper books, the prohibition of using smartphones for calls, messages, or photos (while reading), and silence to respect each reader's concentration. The game is precisely that of knowing how to detach oneself by immersing one's attention in reading, a highly individualistic act, but which, when shared, acquires an important value: that of finding oneself even in one's peers, of creating an unusual and very pleasant connection even among strangers. For those who wish, at the end, it will be possible to exchange information about the readings brought to the Reading and toast together to this long, hot summer drawing to a close.
