Four bands, four years after his tragic passing, will remember the young Monferrato guitarist Edoardo Bornia, who passed away suddenly in 2022 at just 26 years old. Since then, the association Ubi tu Gaius, ibi ego Gaia, chaired by his father Gimmi, has honored the memory of "Edo" by sharing his passion for music through scholarships for young local talents: 19 have already been awarded over the years. The "recipe" for Un Po' di Edo, the festival created to celebrate him, is simple yet effective: what better way to pay homage to a great music lover than with an evening of music? The setting, moreover, is decidedly evocative: the lawn of the Viale Lungo Po Gramsci landing stage, on the banks of the Great River. Admission to the festival, scheduled for Saturday, June 13th, starting at 7:00 PM, is completely free, but all proceeds will go toward funding other scholarships: from music to music, in short. The fourth edition of Un Po' di Edo has a particularly rich program. Opening the evening will be Calygo. The band, formed in 2021, found its definitive home (and composition) in recent months, when they released their first album of original material. Their music is modern rock, with a nod to electronic music and a touch of progressive metal, blending melody and heavier sounds. The poetics of Calygo—Alessandro Re (drums and production), Daniele Cescon (bass), Marco Rossello (guitar), and Carlo Eugenio Ferrero (vocals)—explores the relationship between technology and humanity, with ever-present insights. The festival will then continue with Nebulosa, a rock cover band formed in August two years ago. Their repertoire includes songs by Deep Purple, Whitesnake, Billy Idol, Van Halen, Ramones, The Cure, David Bowie, and many others. The band is composed of Beppe Abbenante (vocals), Alberto Battezzati (drums), Daniel Coggiola (guitar), Livia De Rosa (bass), Massimo Merlini (guitar, backing vocals), and Andrea Mignani (keyboards, backing vocals). The third band to perform on the right bank of the Great River will be the "hosts," Still Raining: a Slayer tribute band, the one that featured Edoardo Bornia himself. Always present at Un Po' di Edo, they were born in 2009 from an idea by Luca Coggiola (bass and vocals) and Matteo Bertazzo (guitar). After their live debut in 2010, they began performing at Italy's most prestigious venues, maintaining a powerful, aggressive style faithful to the original Californian thrash metal over the years. Roberto Zoppi (guitar) and Erik Nalin (drums) complete the lineup. This year, during the concert, Still Raining will pay homage to Edoardo in a new way: in agreement with the Bornia family, they will use his guitar during the show, allowing him to play his beloved notes once again. The performances will close with BMB, whose members have been committed to spreading Bon Jovi's music for over 20 years through over 600 shows in Italy and beyond. Thanks to the charisma of Alessandro Stucchi (vocals), audiences will be able to experience the energy of the New Jersey band in its prime. The group also includes Diego D'Alessandro (guitar), Alberto Sonzogni (keyboards), Andrea Delsignore (bass), and Dario Foschetti (drums). Between performances, to ensure seamless entertainment, Radio in Fiore, Casale Monferrato's social web radio, will be present again for this fourth edition of Un Po' di Edo. The project aims to promote inclusion, dialogue, and community: a radio station that gives a voice to those who don't have one. The station's speakers will broadcast live from the pier, featuring interviews and insights with the organizers and bands. Drop Café will provide aperitifs throughout the event, including artisanal gelato from Crema. The Red Cross will also be present with its Advanced Command Post, a special vehicle dedicated to telecommunications (equipped thanks to the work and expertise of Casale Monferrato specialists). Volunteers will be present to demonstrate its features, unique in the province. Event safety will be ensured by operators from the European Organization of Civil Protection Volunteer Firefighters of Valenza and the Red Cross itself. The event, sponsored by the City of Casale Monferrato, also features the collaboration of Amici del Po di Casale, Musica in Movimento, Sider Lomellina, Studio Tecnico Mario Maimone Baronello, and CSVAA – Volunteer Service Center of Alessandria. "'Un Po' di Edo' is an event that over the years has transformed profound grief into an opportunity for sharing, participation, and concrete support for the area's young talents," stated Deputy Mayor of Casale Monferrato, Luca Novelli. "Music thus becomes a tool of remembrance, but also of solidarity and unity, in a context capable of involving associations, volunteers, artists, and the public. As the City Council, we are pleased to support an initiative that combines quality music, attention to young people, and the valorization of one of the city's most evocative spaces, the pier area on the Lungo Po." In case of inclement weather, "Un Po' di Edo" will be postponed to a date to be determined. Information: ufficiostampa@amicidelpocasale.it
