The ecomuseum initiative "Monferrato Decorated," promoted by the Fondazione Ecomuseo della Pietra da Cantoni of Cella Monte, will resume on Friday, March 20th, for the first time in Occimiano, with a new edition rediscovering private residences characterized by frescoed or decorated vaults and/or walls. The event will also once again shine a spotlight on Monferrato decorators, including the Aceto family of Occimiano, whose artistic expression can be admired in several private homes in the area. The originality of the initiative, conceived by Anna Maria Bruno, lies precisely in making private spaces otherwise inaccessible accessible by exceptionally opening them to the public in a structured and limited manner. In particular, in Occimiano, by turning one's gaze to the vaults of Casa Croce, decorated with medallions and floral and geometric decorations, one can appreciate the works of Enrico Aceto (1893-1964). The same is true at Casa Sillano, which houses four panels signed by him and dated 1951, including a copy of Jean-François Millet's Le Gleaners. A convivial gathering will conclude the event at the Pro Loco headquarters. The meeting is scheduled for 5:30 pm in the Occimiano council chamber in Piazza Carlo Alberto. Mayor Sandro Deambrosis and guide Bruno will welcome visitors. "Another corner of Monferrato's artistic expression will be offered, for the first time, to the loyal supporters of Monferrato Decorato," praises President Corrado Calvo. Thanks to the generosity and willingness of private citizens, in collaboration with public authorities, we will be able to enter the residential buildings, which, as a whole, contribute to a widespread museum of considerable artistic value. Considering that many works have not survived the destruction of the centuries, rather than the more recent renovations, we can only applaud those who have preserved their legacy and beauty. Participation is free, but reservations are required by calling +39 348 2211219 or by writing to chebisa@virgilio.it – info@ecomuseopietracantoni.it.
