August 7 - August 30, 2026 · Casale Monferrato

Two events are scheduled for the month of August, coordinated by Barbara Corino, offering themed evening tours, continuing a long-standing August tradition at the Casale Monferrato Civic Museum. The first, to be held on Friday, August 7, 2026, will be titled "The Dish is Served... Tastes of Renaissance Courts at the Casale Civic Museum." It will offer a short itinerary, beginning with a valuable 16th-century ceremonial dish displayed in the rooms dedicated to the Levi-Graziadi collection, and leading to several sumptuary objects from the 16th-century courts of Casale and Mantua, expressions of a refined cultural era. The evening's guest and narrator will be architect Carla Solarino, a specialist in the history, analysis, and evaluation of historical and environmental assets. She has published extensively on the history of architecture and urban planning in Piedmont and the Aosta Valley, as well as in the Casalese Art and History Association magazine. The second thematic tour, scheduled for Sunday, August 30, 2026, will be titled "A Look at the Lesser Ones. Nineteenth-Century Italy." It will feature a presentation by Barbara Corino, a museum guide, and Paolo Ferrari, a teacher. Starting with an interesting and little-known painting by Giuseppe Olearo, they will delve into the final decades of the 19th century. This historical period saw the birth of mass society: suffrage and education expanded, socialist parties emerged, and workers' awareness of their rights increased, leading to protests and emigration. While a united nation was being built, amid reforms and repression, changes occurred that would shape the country's future. Paolo Ferrari earned a PhD in Contemporary History from the University of Pavia; he teaches literature at the "Trevigi" Middle School in Casale, and is the author of the independent history podcast "Il Prof. di Storia." Meeting point for both evenings is set for 9:00 pm in the Sala delle Lunette of the Civic Museum. Admission is €5.00, free for Museum Pass holders.
