Mostra -"Era Gallizio" - Alba

Art Exhibition

12 April - 12 October · Alba

From April 12 to October 12, 2025, the Federico Eusebio Civic Museum in Alba hosts the exhibition project “Era Gallizio. Pinot Gallizio and the discovery of prehistory: artifacts, works, collecting.”

Linking up with the events that in various venues have been dedicated to the 60th anniversary of the death of Pinot Gallizio (Alba, 1902-1964), the City of Alba has created the exhibition in collaboration with the Gallizio Archive of Turin and the Beppe Fenoglio Study Center and with the support of GAM - Galleria Civica d'Arte Moderna e Contemporanea di Torino, as part of the GAM Exterior project.

This is an unprecedented exhibition focus on the artist's interest in archaeology and prehistory. Curated by Maria Teresa Roberto, curator of the General Catalog of Gallizio's works, the exhibition is set up in the spaces of the Federico Eusebio Civic Museum, which houses the many artifacts he donated, the result of research conducted between 1943 and 1949 at sites explored half a century earlier by mineralogist and paleontologist Giovanni Battista Traverso (Genoa, 1843 - Alba, 1914).

Period texts, photographs and unpublished manuscripts, including a register on which Gallizio noted the results of his investigations, tell the story of those finds, which were credited with reawakening interest in Alba's Neolithic station and paving the way for subsequent rounds of excavations.

The exhibition will be open during the Museum's opening hours: Tuesday through Friday from 3 to 6 p.m.; Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 3 to 7 p.m.

Admission to the exhibition is included in the Museum ticket.
