From 14 March to 28 June 2026, Palazzo Salmatoris in Cherasco will host L’equilibrio dello spazio, an important exhibition dedicated to Caty Torta (Turin, 1920–2014), an original and independent figure in 20th-century Italian art. Admission is free.
The exhibition, which brings together over 50 works, offers the local public the opportunity to learn about the career of an artist who was able to traverse different periods and languages while maintaining a strong expressive identity. From her training in Turin at the school of Felice Casorati to her stays in Paris at the Académie de la Grande Chaumière, the exhibition documents the evolution of a career that moved between figuration, industrial modernity and abstraction.
Caty Torta was also a woman who broke the mould: one of the first Italian women to obtain a motor racing licence, she took part in the Mille Miglia, embodying a free and pioneering spirit that is reflected in her painting.
The inauguration will take place on Saturday 14 March at 10.30 a.m. at Palazzo Salmatoris.
Opening hours: Thursday and Friday 2.30pm-6.30pm Saturday and Sunday 9.30am-12.30pm and 2.30pm-6.30pm
