Monforte d'Alba guided walks

Guided walks through the centre of Monforte d'Alba are back.

From March onwards, every weekend, and from April onwards, every day (except Wednesdays and Thursdays), there will be a charming walk through the narrow streets of one of Italy’s most beautiful villages, setting off regularly from the Tourist Office in the central Piazza Italia.

A charming walk through the narrow streets of one of Italy’s most beautiful villages, starting from our office located inside the town hall.
We will begin in the area known as ‘Il Borghetto’, the newest part of Monforte d’Alba’s centre, where the imposing church of the Madonna della Neve stands. We will continue towards Piazza Umberto I, the hub of social and commercial life. Provided there are no private events scheduled, small groups will be able to visit the Martina Museum, dedicated to the Colonel of the Savoy Army, who donated his residence to the municipality of Monforte d’Alba so that it could be used for the benefit of the community. We will have the chance to step out onto the balcony of the palace of the same name, admiring a picturesque view of the old town. From here, we will set off on an uphill walk to explore the medieval quarter. We will imagine the events linked to the Cathar community, the group that was accused of heresy some 1,000 years ago. We will pass through ‘la saracca’ to reach the square of the Old Church, where the Oratory of St Augustine and the Clock Tower are located. From here, a beautiful viewpoint and the Horszowski amphitheatre, where the famous Monfortinjazz music festival takes place in July. The final stop is for an unmissable photo at the Giant Bench #12

When:

10.30 am and 3.30 pm, every day except Wednesday and Thursday
