September 12, 2026 · Castiglione Falletto

On Saturday 12 September 2026, the traditional ‘Io, Barolo’ event returns, with Barolo and its producers taking centre stage as it is presented to a national and international audience through a travelling tasting tour through the historic centre of Castiglione Falletto.

From 4.00 pm to 9.30 pm, over thirty Barolo producers will take centre stage in a walking wine tasting, winding its way through the characteristic streets of the medieval town centre, in the shadow of the imposing 11th-century castle, offering participants a breathtaking view of the vineyards and hills, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Here, enthusiasts and connoisseurs will have the opportunity to sample a wide range of different Barolo crus and vintages, as well as other fine local wines.

To mark the 20th anniversary of the Strada del Barolo, the programme is enhanced by an exceptional preview: ‘Il Salotto del Ventennale, an exclusive tasting of Barolo 2006’, a journey through time hosted in the evocative setting of the little church of Sant’Anna in Castiglione Falletto. Participants will have the rare privilege of tasting four Barolo DOCG wines from the 2006 vintage.

The event will be led by Sandro Minella, a FISAR-accredited sommelier, ONAV-accredited wine taster, professional tour guide, long-standing contributor to and head of tastings at the Strada del Barolo, and an accredited “Narratore del Gusto®”. The added value of this event will be the presence of the producers in the room, who will be directly involved in discussing the 2006 vintage, the challenges faced in the vineyard and their memories of the harvest from their own personal perspective.

Admission fee:

tasting pass: €35.00 when purchased online in advance, or €38.00 at the door (free entry to the historic centre)
tasting pass + “Il Salotto del Ventennale, an exclusive tasting of Barolo 2006”: €90
