ANTONIO VASSALLO – IN THE EYES OF GIOVANNI – The story of a boy from Capaci. The duty of memory and the right to the truth.” A meeting to discuss memory, truth, and civic engagement, through the story of Antonio Vassallo and the account of one of the most dramatic episodes in our country's recent history. Introduced by: Valentina Avvento. Antonio Vassallo, a professional photographer, was among the first to arrive at the scene of the Capaci massacre. For years, he has met with children and adults of all ages throughout Italy, in schools and at public events, to recount the mafia and civic engagement through his own story. He is the author, together with Fabrizio Silei, of the book: “Negli occhi di Giovanni. Storia di un ragazzo di Capaci” (Il Castoro). An event where memory becomes responsibility, because knowing and recounting means keeping the duty of truth alive. The meeting is also suitable for teacher training.
