June 17, 2026 · Casale Monferrato

Wednesday, June 17 DOUBLE CONCERT _ 9:00 PM _ CASALE MONFERRATO, Palazzo Trevigi, Le Muse Academy Full price €5, reduced price €3, free for under 12s VIDEN SPASSOV 4et Viden Spassov | double bass Manuel Caliumi | sax Fabio Giachino | piano Mattia Barbieri | drums Return of the artistic residency, taking place from June 15th to 17th at Le Muse European Art Academy. An explosive trio where jazz, world music, rock, and improvisation blend into a single, limitless form of expression. Winner of the Jazz section at the 2025 Premio Buscaglione, Viden Spassov presents new music that will complement his debut album, due out in 2026. Inspired by his recent travels and tours, which have taken him far and wide throughout Europe, as far as China and Chile, this highly personal work of growth represents the multifaceted soul of the Bulgarian-born double bassist, where genre barriers—between jazz, world music, rock, and avant-garde—break down to make room for a free and borderless world. Viden Spassov is an Italian double bassist originally from Sofia, Bulgaria, and currently residing in Turin. Winner of the "Luca Flores" Best Soloist Award at the 2023 Barga Jazz Contest, he is a versatile and eclectic musician who has found the world of improvisation and cross-pollination to be the ideal context for self-expression, exploring and experimenting with sounds that transcend traditional genre boundaries, moving between jazz, classical, avant-garde, rock, world music, and electronic music. ************************ MATTIA BASILICO Quartet "On the Edge" Mattia Basilico | tenor saxophone Alessio Pagliero | piano Carlo Bavetta | double bass Bernardo Guerra | drums The Mattia Basilico Quartet comes to Casale Monferrato with a program of original compositions: an exclusive preview of their first album, due out in September on Gleam Records. Contemporary jazz with solid roots and an already recognizable voice. Mattia Basilico began studying music at the age of eight. At twenty-one, he is already one of the most followed names on the emerging Italian jazz scene. A tenor saxophonist from Robbio (PV), saxophone instructor at the Le Muse Academy in Casale Monferrato, in 2025 he won the Fara Music Jazz Lab Award at the Massimo Urbani Prize—the most important Italian competition for jazz soloists—and the Torino Jazz Festival appointed him artistic director of the Young Board, with full autonomy in artistic selection and production.
