The Casale Monferrato Leo Club, a youth association of Lions Club International, in conjunction with the Casale dei Marchesi di Monferrato Lions Club, is organizing a charity event entitled "APERIMICIO" on Sunday, March 29th, starting at 5:00 p.m., in the Chapel of the Castello del Monferrato in Casale Monferrato (Piazza Castello). The event will benefit the Nonsologatti Odv Association, which cares for homeless cats. The Casale Monferrato Leo Club currently has 9 members between the ages of 18 and 30. It organizes fundraising events (such as the "Murder Mystery Dinner" and the "Christmas Bingo"). The Casale dei Marchesi di Monferrato Lions Club currently has 20 members. The club's main fundraising event is the "Chefs' Dinner," to raise funds for the fight against mesothelioma. The two clubs also organize active volunteer opportunities for the community (such as participating in the Food Drive, dog and cat food drives, and providing lunch to Caritas). The following is the program for the event, which will take place from 5:00 PM onwards: • Presentation of the book "Pangur Bàn and the Mystery of the Disappeared Marjoram" (Parallelo45 Edizioni) by author Maura Maffei. The author will be introduced and will engage in a conversation with journalist Pier Carlo Guglielmero. • Sale of themed handicrafts • AperiMicio afterward Maura Maffei's latest book is aimed at children of all ages and cat lovers. Like many of her historical novels, it is set in Ireland and features a real character from the 9th century. However, he is not a warrior or a pirate, but an Irish cat. His name was Pangur Bán, meaning "soft and white," and he is the protagonist of a four-stanza poem written in the margin of the Reichenau Codex (named after the German abbey where he was found). Pangur Bán is, therefore, Ireland's most famous cat. The Casalese writer imagined him as an improvised investigator in the monastery where he lives, dealing with the theft of a series of marjoram plants. And perhaps, by stealing the marjoram, someone is trying to steal something far more precious from the monks. It's a hilarious story, enhanced by the drawings of Calabrian Angela Sancono, who illustrated the cover and the 14 internal plates. During the "Aperimicio" event, there will be a video link with the young illustrator, who will explain to the public how she imagined the medieval cat. For this presentation, which is the book's first ever, the publishing house Parallelo45 Edizioni has decided to donate part of the proceeds from sales to the Nonsologatti Association. This is also a way to celebrate Maura Maffei, whose 33-year career will be celebrated on March 29th. Her debut novel, "The Traitor," was published by Marna on March 29, 1993. The afternoon has an entrance fee of €15, and the proceeds from the event will be donated to the Nonsologatti Association for the care of homeless cats.
