September is always a special month for the Casale Monferrato Antiques Market. The area is brimming with cultural and food and wine events, and on Sunday, September 13th, thousands of visitors will pass through Piazza Castello to complete their tourist itinerary in search of a unique object or an unusual gift. A full house of approximately 300 exhibitors is expected to welcome them. It's the month when the theme of food and fine wine also appears on the stalls; in the past, all kinds of kitchen and cellar items have been on display. Entire collections of corkscrews, rolling pins, pasta cutters, and ravioli makers of all shapes and ages can be found. Then, of course, bottles, demijohns, wine containers, and some vintage bottling equipment that wouldn't look out of place in an art collection. It's also the ideal season for tableware: fine tablecloths, glasses, crockery, and cutlery. There's enough to serve a royal court. Finally, take a look at the books. Recipe books are in high demand these days, from hardback editions of Pellegrino Artusi's classic "Science in the Kitchen" and the timeless "Silver Spoon," to even a few of your grandmother's notebooks that you can find rummaging through the miscellaneous folders. And if you want to put theory into practice, the Market has a refreshment stand, while just outside the Palazzina Liberty is the Farmer's Market with local Monferrato products. The exhibition will be open from 8:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
