Sunday, April 12th brings a new, unmissable event to the Casale Monferrato Antiques Market. April is always a special month here, packed with events both inside and outside the city, a time capable of attracting thousands of tourists from across Northern Italy and Europe. Thus, Casale, for every antiques enthusiast, becomes an essential stop. Moreover, for over 40 years, the market has been combined with Casale Città Aperta (Open City), with all the city's main monuments open to visitors free of charge. In April, the approximately 300 exhibitors who crowd the stalls of the Pavia Market and the Tartara Hall take advantage of the beautiful spring days to showcase their finest offerings. There's truly a little something for everyone, but a seasonal choice might be to look for "the whites": tablecloths, sheets, trousseaus, and nightgowns straight from grandma's trunks or forgotten in some closet. This thriving market boasts countless dedicated exhibitors and knowledgeable enthusiasts. There's something for every budget: the difference lies in the embroidery techniques, the fineness of the thread, the state of preservation, and the provenance. The most valuable pieces are those in antique linen or silk, and even more sought-after if they feature elaborate monograms or hand-applied lace, especially if they come from factories like Burano or Cantù, or are made with Ligurian bobbin lace. The market is open from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. As always, it features a refreshment stand. At the exit, visitors can find the Farmer's Market, featuring locally sourced Monferrato products.
