From October 9 to 12, the 43rd City of Hazelnut Fair will be held in Castellero.
The Fair dedicated to the Piedmont Hazelnut Trilobata, organized by the Municipality and Pro Loco of Castellero, is an eagerly awaited event for lovers of good things that returns every year to the rolling hills of Monferrato. Among the most characteristic events is the Hazelnut Yield, a competition reserved for growers, who compete on the quality of their product.
Other activities are related to pairings/tastings between the hazelnut and local products (saffron, cheeses, etc.). During the event there are playful moments dedicated to children, musical evenings, and slow walking activities on the hazelnut trails. On the trails it is possible to follow through showcases (like an open-air museum) the process of planting a seedling to the final confectionery product, or the mechanical transformation of this agricultural sector. Sunday is the day dedicated to the general public with the market fair among the village streets or the mechanization fair, the thematic conference and the possibility of lunch with typical dishes.
